What costs are involved in conveyancing?
Conveyancing costs can include legal fees, search fees, registration fees, and transfer (stamp) duty. At Ballantine Law, we offer fixed professional fees and provide upfront discussions about additional costs to ensure transparency and no surprises.
How can I ensure a smooth settlement process?

Transfer (Stamp) Duty Concessions in Queensland
First home buyers, and some eligible home buyers, may be eligible for reduced transfer (stamp) duty if they meet the following criteria:
- You must live in the home for 12 months
- You may not rent out any rooms for 12 months (for example, no Airbnb)
- You must not have owned any other property in the world (first home buyers only)
- You must buy in your own name, not as a company or trust
- You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- The property must be valued at less than $550,000* (see table for clarification on rates)
Additional duty of 7% applies to acquisitions of residential land by foreign persons (including companies and trusts).
